While running a long con on some merchants in The Crystal City, Cato Gry caught the eye of Kaori Whitesaber, an elf visiting on a diplomatic mission. The two shared a short but passionate tryst, of which Étienne was the result. Like most human-sired elves, Étienne was tolerated and educated in the ways of upperclass elves, but he lacked the patience to learn their complex music or truly master the longbow.
When he was thirty, he abandoned the elfwood, seeking out the family of his father. It took him ten years, but eventually he found Cato in time to greet him on his deathbed. But the Rovani welcomed him like family in a way he’d never seen, and he immersed himself in their culture.
When word reached him that another Family was nearly wiped out by would-be adventurers, Étienne volunteered to bring justice to the Gadjo. He has come to The Crossing to hunt them down, and kill them like the dogs they are.
I enjoy a good jam session on my guitar (although I’m not very good), am a terror at cards, and never turn down a drink or a post-drink fight.
People. I’m loyal to my friends, not to any ideals, and everyone else can take a trip down the Styx for all I care.
Respect. I must prove to The Family that I’m worthy of the favor they’ve shown me.
Life is short and should not be wasted
I will face any challenge to win the approval of my family.
Once I set my mind to something, I’ll see it through even if it turns out to be a bad idea.
I form an opinion of people within minutes of meeting them, and if I judge incorrectly it’s an uphill battle convincing me I’m wrong.
